I would rate these zero stars if possible. I am rating this group as this department has created an enormous amount of heartache for my family. My father fell and broke his hip which is common for elderly people. He was misdiagnosed with dementia which he does not have, and a brain scan shows that he doesn't have dementia but the department of social services did everything they could to diagnose him with this without a proper evaluation. They did not want to listen to the family and gained conservatorship of my father. It is easier to put someone in nursing home and do a yearly report than actually help them. This was done because he was supposed to be picked up for court to fight this from the rehab/nursing facility and they never showed up to take him to court like he had requested. We didn't pick him up as we were also told that they would since he was at Rosehill. We didn't know that he wasn't going to be there until the hearing started that day. My father has requested to have this annulled in court and has gone unheard. He is in a nursing home in a small bed sharing a small room with another gentleman. He is not able to get the physical therapy that he needs. His teeth are so damaged at this point that they are breaking off and he is in a lot of pain. He is basically wasting away in there. He was in better shape before going into that home. My mother, his wife recently had a psychiatric breakdown due to the stress of losing her husband to a nursing home and then social services going after her as well. She has a long history of psychiatric issues, and the department of social services refuses to acknowledge them in fact has done everything she can do to cover those up. They have slapped on the title of dementia as her diagnosis and now will not allow the family to even know how she is doing. She is now going to a nursing home. They even went as far as to having her reviewed by a psychologist who only works with dementia, head injury and memory issue patients. He works hand in hand with the Department of Social Services. There is a report from the Health Department that is completely inaccurate, and the department of social services was part of that. I can prove and have that the information in there is incorrect and have reported this to the state of Virginia for Medicaid fraud. I am putting this review on as I would like to warn others of what might happen this department becomes involved in your family. I am to the understanding that one of the social workers of my mother's case does not even have the required bachelor's degree to do her job. I am simply the voice for my parents when their voices have been taken away by the Department of Social Services. Everything that I have posted in this review I can prove as I have the documentation to do so.
